    You mean the LLMs with “personality” programmed into them for no other reason than to foster a parasocial relationship that increases user retention are causing people to become lonely? No fucking way

    Isn’t it a “cause and effect” case? Those who “have fewer real-life relationships” are expectably more “engage emotionally with bot”?

    I can’t see any reason to “engage emotionally with bot” if I just need some information because I’m too lazy to read the documentation. But people who come for “emotional engage”… well, they “emotional engage”.

    I personally would feel even more lonely if my only ‘friend’ was a computer program that can never actually care about me.
