Theres a lot of really fucked up evil ones out of print that can be yours for the low, low price of however much they charge for 10,000 copies. Theres one where a holocaust survivor gets pilled on the very Jack Chick specific version of the Catholic World Conspiracy and immediately converts to evangelical christianity. “Squatters” is about Palestine and claims that the Nakba was self-inflicted, very “I support Israel because Jesus is gonna come back” type stuff. Queer people are portrayed worse than murderers are in the Jack Chick universe, lots of “but its okay they deserved it!” regarding SA and HIV/AIDS.

But yeah no some of this shit is hilarious (cw: queerphobia and animal abuse)

This eight panel sequence fucking slaughters me, I love Bobby.

spoilered for queerphobia and animal abuse

At the very end little Bobby never got saved. He’s in hell now, fuck Bobby.

    • the hat is a bit eccentric, but otherwise the outfit is way cooler than what most New Age Healers wear.

also, dude is clearly yoked. definitely the kind of powerful bro that can subdue lead poisoned grandpas and cure them of their religious excitation with a suplex.

Maoists say “Everything under heaven is in utter chaos, the situation is excellent” while evengelicals say “Gee, we’re all gonna die in a disaster, can’t wait”

My holy Grail of chick tracts is the one about dungeons and dragons. It’s one of the discontinued ones though so there’s virtually no chance of collecting on the street like the rest I have

That part where the kid gets told to go to bed kinda creeps me out. The reason is it sounds like they’re trying to strawman (among various other strawmen in that specific tract alone) people who criticize fundies for supporting actual child abuse as being ridiculous. Of course, that’s far from the creepiest thing in Chick Tracts, such as the justification for the Palestinian genocide that you mentioned.

A talk about the horrors of Chick Tracts isn’t complete without talking about the most infamous one of all:

      content warning: child sexual abuse

A guy rapes his own daughter and gives her herpes, yet he still goes to heaven just by praying to Jesus for forgiveness.

This is the version of Christianity I was taught as a child. Believe in God? Heaven. Don’t believe? Hell.

My upbringing had slightly more nuance. It was like, believing in God gets you into heaven, but if you really believe then you’ll do good works as well. It’s not the good works that get you to heaven, but without them are you really saved? Then again, most of the people who preached this were pretty devoid of many good works, but ah well.

I admire that Jack Chick was able to resist the devil’s offer to grant him the ability to draw consistently in exchange for his soul.

Just imagining him drawing an 8 year old with an adult face like “not today, Satan.”

The general fevered absurdity of the worldview in them sometimes makes you forget the absolute malignant evil lurking behind it. It’s easy to laugh at how weird and cringe they are and lose sight of just how monstrous theocrats are on every level.

Wow just pulled out a deep seated memory

Grew up very muslim in a very muslim area but in a christian country, didn’t know anything about Christianity other than Jesus and the trinity, until one day I was waiting at the doctors office and they had one of these comic booklets on the table. I started reading it cuz i thought the art looked intriguing but it ended up being a really horrific story that confused me. I don’t remember the details too much but I remember how it made me feel: maybe also because I grew up taught that it was sinful to draw depictions of people, even moreso God or Satan or other religious figures
