it’s crazy that 20 years ago accusing the us government of waging war for the material gain of elites (“blood for oil”) was something serious and disrespectful to the troops, etc. but now they’re just going on tv and saying it

Yeah, libs will occasionally take good stances when they’re out of power. Now they will be principled anti-interventionists and say they care about international law, the War Powers Act, etc. It can be useful from time to time. Then when they get in power it’s “we tortured some folks” this and leaving Guantanamo open that.

I literally do not care at all about these elected libs, they will all go in the pit

I’m talking about the millions of liberals that form a huge portion (the majority?) of the working class in this country.

One of the reasons oil is still supreme in an age of burgeoning renewables and electrified transportation is oil is still the primary fuel source for war machines. As I understand it, war machines are generally built for performance at the expense long term efficiency. Tanks can only go for hundreds of miles before needing a tune-up, for example, even on roads. A civilian car can run for a thousand before requiring the equivalent maintenance. This goes for fuel economy as well. You will burn through fuel faster and even in cases less efficiently (hence all the smoke) with these big military engines. The payoff is that in combat you need that extra 3 seconds saved on a takeoff by burning gallons of fuel.

So really we only need oil to have war machines to defend or seize oil so we can have war machines to defend or seize oil etc

    porky-happy

Renewables are still a tiny proportion of global energy (i.e. broader than electricity) usage, at ~5 percent compared to 30 percent for oil

Which makes it a national security risk that we let these oil companies sell it all to get burned by civilians and private industry. It makes no sense. The whole thing. But yeah, it’s why we should be saving petroleum. We need it for all kinds of shit as we transition. Flying a heart across the planet to save a life is pretty cool! Medical helicopters are neat! We kinda need the vroom vroom juice for the neat stuff. Meanwhile chuds are rolling coal. I’m just full on ranting now, I’m sorry lol

Rules:

– PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE –

Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.

If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.

Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.

Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.

Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.

Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like ‘Raid: Shadow Legends’ in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.
