The woman’s husband eventually arrives and tries to intervene, and he made a separate recording of the interaction on his phone. He tells the agents not to search her car because they don’t have a warrant and it would be an illegal search. The agents appear dismissive of his constitutional concerns.
“I’m not getting into the legality of everything,” one agent responds tersely.
MPR News interviewed the woman and her husband, who also doesn’t want to be identified, fearing retaliation.
The woman said the agents put her into one of their vehicles and started driving toward the Twin Cities, presumably to the Whipple Federal Building near MSP Airport, where ICE has an immigration detention facility. About 20 minutes into the drive, when they were near Le Sueur, she says one of the agents got a call, apparently from an ICE supervisor. They turned off Highway 169 at the next exit and drove back toward St. Peter.
The husband told MPR News that after his wife was taken into custody, he called his attorney, and soon after, he got a call from St. Peter Chief of Police Matt Grochow, whom he said he has known for years.

From the recording they all had guns drawn and pointed from the moment they stepped out of the car, meaning there was no escalation - they emerged ready to use deadly force without any grounds or justification. The only explanation is intent to kill or unlawfully intimidate.

Those thugs were potentially driving her to be flown out of Minnesota. After that, who knows. They were informed of the unconstitutionality of an illegal search and demonstrated they didn’t care.

The only reason she was saved was that the husband knew the local chief of police, which - while great and especially nice for local communities where this is more common - is certainly not going to apply to everyone.
In any normal timeline they would all be fired and potentially be the basis for a constitutional rights violation suit for multiple reasons above.
At this rate, we’re going to literally have ICE agents hanging from lamp posts soon enough.

Lol, no. History tells us that for any coup to be successful, even a so-called “bloodless” coup, the military – or a critical mass thereof – must already be on board or get there quickly, or the coup FAILS.
Historically, unless the military is already in power, either as a junta or as a loyalist unit, the military is the big question mark, not the certainty, and history is full of attempted coups that never even got off the ground because the military laughed.
This is especially true here and now in the US as well: ICE is not the military. It’s not even a part of the military.
ICE is a comparatively tiny force of less that 5k that belongs to DHS and has hired a bunch of sociopaths to make big dramas of force in small places, and in so doing stage a big shock and awe program for the rest of us, including the servicemen and women of the military who are also citizens, many of whom are black and brown and whose loved ones are also being targeted by ICE.
He’s NOT doing this because the coup is already successful and we’ve all fallen in line; this is all being done so that we WILL fall in line.

If I am boxed in by a car with no police lights with masked men jumping out and immediately pointing guns at me… Floor it. This is self defense because I have no way of knowing who is threatening my life. With guns drawn you can’t see POLICE on the vests either.

I mean, they jumped out with guns drawn. There was really no chance to move the car at that point and survive. They did it to Renee Good. They’ll do it again.

In MSP as soon as they sent in actual trained people (the state’s national guard) things calmed down. It’s amazing how well they can handle a situation.
Something to remember about situations like this where time is of the essence, don’t just yell “Someone call 911/for help!” Actually DESIGNATE someone from the crowd to do so. The bystander effect assumes that someone else will do it. Don’t let people think like that. While doing CPR, you’re told to point specifically at someone to call for assistance. Same goes for something like this.

To anyone reading this, the bystander effect is maybe not as strong as we once thought. Mainly because a 2019 study showed more than 200 real-life situations caught on CCTV where the bystander effect was not shown to happen.

Explorers and chargers commonly have bullet proof windshields made in the correct shape since their police vehicles, but they’re significantly heavier and require specialized knowledge and adhesive to install correctly.
I don’t know if the glass is currently up to spec but the old crown vics with the interceptor package are quietly tanks
