Trump campaigned on a pledge to fight antisemitism. “Antisemitic bigotry has no place in a civilized society,” Trump said at an event in 2024.
However, critics question whether antisemitism may have found a place within his administration.
NPR has identified three Trump officials with close ties to antisemitic extremists, including a man described by federal prosecutors as a “Nazi sympathizer,” and a prominent Holocaust denier.
Amy Spitalnick, CEO of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, argues that the administration is using antisemitism as a pretext.
No, but it’s anyone that doesn’t think 2 million people should be killed in Gaza who are antisemitic.
You have to be really really really ignorant and/or been living on Sentinel Island for the past at least 12 years to not already know this.
Anyone who believed a word about Trump fighting against anti semitism was looking for a talking point to ride as an excuse to vote for him, and those people fucking suck.
Most of the people saying this just wanted the pretense to black bag and terrorize anyone who hurts Israel’s feelings, antisemitism be damned. Arabs are semites, and nobody has a problem being genocidal towards them. It was always going to be like this. The question is: how long do people let this shit continue?
Hello my fellow hebrews and she-brews, wake the fuck up, this admin could come after us at any moment.
Correction: He is going to go after you. I’m not trying to be callous, but that’s the cold, hard truth; Jews never fare well when rightwing reactionaries are in power.
Yeah. His antisemitism campus bullshit is just the latest clear evidence that we are headed toward a dark future. It’s all of us, btw. Not just Jews.
Franco sort of was nicer.
I invite anyone to have a look at /r/conspiracy if there was ever any doubt about what lies below the thin veneer of civilization. The protocols and ehatever fuelled them never went away…
/r/conspiracy used to be such a fun community, until around 2015.
Then it nosedived hard. Full maga and tons of theories that have roots in antisemitism and racism, many of which have been debunked time and time again.
Really jumped the shark somewhere around pizzagate.
Part of me still thinks that Ron Paul’s 2008 run and huge popularity on Reddit at the time was a trial run for leveraging social media platforms (especially those that leaned heavily left, like Reddit at the time) for attracting people who typically wouldn’t vote Republican.
I’m a very left person, and was even then…but even I campaigned for Ron Paul, dismissed some of his writings as (what would later be called) “fake-news”, and was able to look past his pro-life stance.
I don’t know about that, I was on Reddit for a few years before 2015 and /r/conspiracy always came across a little crazy to me. The specific brand of crazy fluctuated a bit over the years, and they definitely got worse at hiding it over time, but even when I first joined it seemed like you didn’t have to scratch the surface very deep to find some really weird and concerning shit.
I’ve always been a conspiracy theory enjoyer, never really bought into any of them (besides a few pretty mainstream ones, but who doesn’t have a favorite Kennedy assassination theory?) So that was probably one of the first subreddits I checked out, I don’t think I ever bothered commenting on anything there, everything there pretty much immediately gave me the sense that “oh no, these people are actually crazy and maybe even kind of dangerous”
Ok, so what are we doing about this? Let’s write some strongly worded letters.
They’re actual antisemites, not just people who don’t like netanyahu’s genocide, so nothing will be done.
Let’s “slam” them with a rebuttal, as headlines like to write.
I mean, yeah. This is monday news. Today he will probably announce a pedophile as the new responsible for child safety and tomorrow a random blonde, ex fox news anchor as the new nuclear counseling expert. He’s been saturating the media space for a decade now. I firmly believe there could be a video of him raping an entire class of first graders and his base would defend him. Good luck usa.
Well they’re Nazis so that makes sense.
Everybody forgets the Nazis first plan was to toss all the undesirables into their own country, and that the European countries created Israel to get rid of their own Jewish populations after WW2.
The creation of Israel was antisemitic, and no one should be surprised when far right countries “friendly” with Israel announce that they’re deporting their whole Jewish population to Israel.
It’s a choice now, but those governments and Bibi would love for it not to be.
Everybody forgets the Nazis first plan was to toss all the undesirables into their own country, and that the European countries created Israel to get rid of their own Jewish populations after WW2.
Hell, the Zionist militias that fought the Palestine civil war and then the Arab-Israeli war in 1947-1949 were Polish-trained and armed explicitly so Poland could toss their own Jewish population in Israel, and while Poland (and most of Eastern Europe) wasn’t exactly far-right they shared similar views on Jews. This shit goes deep.
We don’t forget. Hertzel said his greatest allies would be antisemites.
“argues that the administration is using antisemitism as a pretext”
Did anyone believe they were honestly trying to help anyone but themselves?
People with a brain ? No but the maga people did believe him
Have ties to antisemitic extremists, are antisemitic extremists, potato potahto
“I’m not saying you’re a Nazi, I’m just saying that all the self proclaimed Nazis think you are.”
You think the white house is civilized society?
Edit: not you specifically, I’m referring to trump’s comments.
Well yes, that is true because they have ties to themselves
