Disney has confirmed what has been known all along, they will fire you if you say anything they disagree with, even if they have to MISREPRESENT, MALIGN, and MISCHARACTERIZE you to do it.
She was fired for her posts on Instagram & Twitter. They didn’t make things up, she posted them publicly.
That being said when even Disney is giving up on lawsuits you know we’re in a bad place.
As for the actual argument, free speech just means freedom from consequences… from the government. If you loudly make an ass of yourself everyone else is allowed to laugh at you. If Disney thinks you’re costing them money, they’re allowed to fire you.
From a character perspective I’m bummed she got fired. I’ve never seen such a perfect character backstory told when Cara Dune was described as “From Alderan”, we the audience immediately understood her character so much better. But it’s hard to watch that character when I know the actor is a piece of shit.
I read this as disney simply thinking woke is out and fascism is in so they stand to gain by rehiring her
