Hats off for taking time and writing this piece. When I hear any positive statement about the matter I just cannot wrap my head around how deeply wrong the person is and cannot bother to educate them.

“This is just one early rushed concept to fundraise and move on,” McManus concluded. “In the ever evolving world of tech fraud, first movers are being heavily rewarded.”

Nah, people just dont want to be challenged and want to think they can just make things work because they want it to. AI didnt start the psychosis, humans do that on their own, AI just acts as a reinforcement loop.

My dad who has absolutely 0 real knowledge of anything related to this argued with me, a studied physicist, on how to do this. He threw a temper tantrum style response that he understood tech and so I was not respecting him by disagreeing that we could put data centers in space.

Neither of our arguing will even be remotely productive since literally neither of our careers are in even attempting to build this garbage for our overpaid oligarchs.
People suck on their own. We already want to be right all the time. LLM “AI” is just so you can sell something that says you are.

I just realized what a fantastic headline writing loophole this is. You can add

, experts argue. To the end of any headline, because it is true that experts can argue a lot, and the comma does the heavy lifting. See: Training cats to dance could solve the RAM shortage, experts argue.
It’s even better than the good old Can training cats to dance solve the RAM shortage?

You’d need a semicolon for it to be correct usage in the way you are describing; experts argue.

Futurism is suffering from addiction to ragebait headlines about AI. What a piece of shit outlet, honestly, that exists for nothing at this point but to lazily regurgitate stories about AI and then slap on a headline like “AI CEOs are literally shitting their diapers (because they’re so STUPID) as their industry crumbles around them!!” (corresponding article is about how Nvidia stock dipped 1.5% intra-day)

The article in the OP is “about” this video from the channel Real Engineering, in case anyone wants real material. I genuinely think Futurism should be banned at this point and users encouraged to instead directly post whatever shit Futurism is mooching off of. Even for a comm like fuck_ai, their constant enemy-is-strong-and-weak ragebait is so transparently fucking lazy and empty.

I don’t use LLMs outside of translation and don’t see their widespread, general-purpose proliferation as a good thing.

        Good try, though.

I’m one of the biggest AI haters around (and you’re welcome to go through my comment history if you don’t believe me), but he’s right. Futurism is a trash-tier publication that’s trying to monetize AI hate in a way that’s only designed to tell us what we want to hear without adding any real value to anyone.

It’s clickbait garbage, and accepting it uncritically is just as stupid as accepting LLM slop as fact
